The Blackened Garden
Flora, a lush green landscape with plants, trees and flowers, has been depicted as the subject of absolute natural beauty throughout art history in the renaissance by the Great Master Painters. The ideal landscape has been the background of so many paintings based on biblical themes. Some of the masters have painted their own versions of ‘Paradise World’ beautifully. The visual is just an ‘ideal landscape’ where all is ordered, beautiful and fruitful. With the passage of time, it also came to stand for the life to come. The ‘Paradise’ considers the idea of the sacred grove, the garden and the perfect landscape. For so many years now, in the spirit of a happier time to come in the future led men to create their vision of a heaven on earth. Does it still have a hold on our consciousness or the state of our present times eroded the potency of our paradise dream?
I have explored my concerns for the paradise dream showing ideal landscape or the Garden of Eden as how it has been painted by the paradise legends, transforming the visual in a dark, horrifying, corroded visions of a landscape responding to how badly the chaotic and manmade horrors are having seriously adverse effects on the world with the black. This transition of the visual from coloured to black is an important factor for me.
