Collection: Bahaar Dhawan

As a self-taught artist, my paintings are an outcome of the marriage of very different disciplines, law and the freedom of an artist detached from straightjacket of definition and boundaries. Exploration, experimenting and stitching the picture with my engagement with society is the essence and motivation behond my art practice.  I paint a lot from the visuals & epiphanies from my dreams, my fascination for the cosmos and real life case studies & experiences. I work with different mediums: paper, rubber, resin, cement, sand etc. and figured a unique way of burning resin and reduced rubber together to give a structural effect on the base. My works are heavily influenced by the Cosmos and galaxies, landscapes and experiences/ conversations from travels, because I firmly believe there is a lot beyond what meets the eye – so this enquiry and looking for plausible answers is my drive.

I am drawn towards themes which have social message or address social concern. In the past I have addressed issues regarding terrorism, Women’s rights & questioning social evils/ superstitions in relation to owls in the country.

I have been fortunate that my artworks have been showcased in the US, Venice, Dubai and been collected by noteworthy luminaries who have collected art for its notional value and not only decorative value. My work has also reached the prestigious offices of the Hon'ble President of India and last year I had the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister for raising concerns regarding the future of Art Law in India.

Along with furthering my own art practice, I am keen to stabilize the art market for young emerging and established artists, by working towards stable laws and governance in relation to dealing with art.  I have given some talks in Japan and India in relation to the same.

The work submitted herewith involves the idea of patriotism and diluting of boundaries in India, to instill a feeling of one people belonging to the same soil and soul of being an Indian: It is a kinetic installation made from Metal.

Recently I created an immersive experience for Delhi which transports you into the 3rd millennium, by creating sets, in Virtual Reality, sensorial kinetic sculptures and a sculptural walk in tour through a new civilization. I also collaborated with DLF to have the largest solo for an independent artist in 2019 in a public space. My aim is to change the way viewers experience art, make it seamless, to dilute the formal approach associated with art, and bring art to the masses because art belongs to everybody. It is not a genre to be indulged in, it is a way of life hence, I am also collaborating with brands across industries and infusing art culture to reach wider audience. It is part of my grooming and influence.
