Critical: Dead or Dying? poses a serious concern about water resources in the future for Goa State. The work reveals the report on river health prepared by SANDRP (South Asia Network on Dams, Rivers, and People) and warns that the Mandovi river is on the way of depletion. It is revealed that, according to the recent findings of the National Institute for Oceanography during the last glacial period, i.e. 20,000 years ago, both rivers, Mandovi and Zuari, flowed through the rocky terrain as a single river system before branching out separately. The water body then flowed with more water discharge as compared to the present discharge of the two rivers.

"I construct a memory of the future which is very much important than the memory of the past. The topographical map of the river Mandovi is exactly transferred out from google maps and the rest of the data is borrowed from the found documents. The work explores the inter-state water dispute between Goa and Karnataka. The map shows the path of the river and also the proposed project components of diverting the waters from its basin to the ongoing construction of the dams in Karnataka by the Karnataka Government.

Goans are worried, if this project is allowed, a terrible disturbance would cause to the lifeline of Goa. In times of worsening inter-state water disputes; rivers of Goa need to be protected on priority. There is an urgent need for a well-planned strategy for protecting the Mandovi river for present and for future generations."
